I guess the first question you would ask about the Viber app is what it is. Viber is a free app that you can get on most androids, iPhones, tablets, and computers that lets you send texts and calls to other people who have Viber installed on one of their devices. You will need 3G or Wi-Fi to be able to use the app, but it will save you money if you can’t afford phone service for a period of time. When you first download the app, all you need to do is register your phone number and you won’t have to worry about logging in later on.
The Viber app boasts high definition quality calls to whoever you want so long as they have the Viber app. You can even participate in groups with up to 100 other people as well as downloading special emoticons called stickers. The Viber app also comes localized to many different languages, such as Italian or Japanese, so you can even stay in constant contact with someone that you’ve met online at no cost.
Viber Out
Viber requires your phones number to be synched with the app so it will automatically search your contacts to find who is already using Viber and reduce the trouble you have to go through to find out about each individual person. If you would like to call someone who doesn’t have the Viber app, you will be disappointed though, because you will have to use their feature called Viber Out. Using Viber Out will cost you a fee, so when it comes to making calls to those who don’t have Viber, you’d be better off using your phones regular calling service or another free app such as Skype.
If you’re on the go, Viber is extremely good to use and it allows you to transfer live calls to your desktop computers version of Viber for easier use. You can use it across multiple devices at the same time, as well.
Skype and Viber
The main difference between Skype and Viber is that Skype is primarily for desktop users who are usually at their computer. The Skype mobile app is seconded to the desktop version. Viber, however, is primarily for mobile users while the desktop version gets the back burner.
Some of the newest features are the doodling features where you can draw a picture and send it to your friends. It is reminiscent of the MSN days, and now that we’ve advanced past that, the doodling feature was one of the things that made MSN so popular, though it had little else going for it.
Because of how new to the market Viber is, it is underestimated. While it still needs time to adapt and catch up to the other apps that are already on the mobile market, there is no doubt that it will be a big competitor in the near future and it will take full advantage of the neat features that the other apps don’t have
